Patricia Slawson, a Long Islander her entire life, has been involved in many community endeavors. Patty began helping charitable causes when she was just 16 years old. She raised money for Ronald McDonald House to aide sick children. As an adult Patty has been involved in numerous organizations, all helping children. Patty saved the East Islip Youth Football League from extinction. Under Patty’s direction the league is now thriving. The EIYFL has contributed thousands of dollars to help families in need, children with cancer, Easter Seals for Juvenile Diabetes, Island Harvest Food Pantry, and college scholarships. Patty has been a very active member of the East Islip Schools Athletic Booster Club. Patty was at the forefront to help raise 385,000 dollars to save athletics in the East Islip School District when an austerity budget forced the cancellation of all sports in 2006-2007.
Patty is very active in the East Islip wrestling community. She is a vice president in the EI KID wrestling Program. Additionally, Patty is the head of fundraisers and concession stands of the East Islip High School wrestling team, to raise money for camps and awards. Patty’s latest cause has been to help her son raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Day Foundation which raise money for children with cancer. She is married and has one son.
